New-car sales in Monroe County rebounded last month, outpacing both January sales and last year’s sales, Rochester Automobile Dealers’ Association Inc. reported.
Area car dealers sold 3,692 new vehicles in February, 13 percent more than the 3,265 sold in January and 15 percent more than the 3,203 sold a year ago. Some 6,957 new cars and trucks have been registered in Monroe County this year, up nearly 12 percent from 6,222 in the first two months last year.
RADA does not report used-car sales.
Monroe County car dealers last year sold 47,653 new vehicles, down slightly from the 48,629 new vehicles sold here in 2015. In 2015, area dealers set a 13-year record with new-car sales, data from the Rochester Automobile Dealers Association Inc. show.
Nationally, new-car sales set a record in 2016 at 17.55 million, topping 2015’s record of 17.47 million, AutoData Corp. reported.
